As I’ve started coaching moms online, there is one common problem:
Their children are guessing when it comes to big words, and they need a better strategy than saying, “sound it out.”
In Syllables School, you learn everything you need to know to help your child read multi-syllable words.
YOU'LL LEARN THE 5S FOR SYLLABLES
- SPOT the 6 syllable types
- strategies to SPLIT syllables
- how SCHWA changes things (like the a in about and o in bacon)
- the role of SUFFIXES and PREFIXES in sounding out
- how to SPELL words with multiple syllables
There are FOUR hours of video lessons:
- Lesson #1 - Spot Syllables
- Lesson #2 - Syllable Strategies
- Lesson #3 - Schwa + Suffixes
-
Lesson #4 - Spelling Syllables
With each lesson, there are participant worksheets so you can learn how to teach your child or student this.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q1: What ages/grades is this for?
This is for children from first grade (6 years old) to fifth grade (11 years old) or older. I purposefully made many of the worksheets not so cutesy for older students.
As soon as your child or student can read the word "fin," you can teach them "muffin." As soon as they can read "go," they can be taught zero. As soon as they can read "cake," you can teach cupcake. And so...
Q2: How long will this take?
Each Zoom lesson is about an hour. There is a hands-on component to do while you watch the lesson.
You will invest 4 hours watching the videos and doing the lesson, but it’s going to save your child and you dozens of hours of frustration and tears over the next several years.
Q3: I already have Sounds School - do I need this?
Yes, Sounds School covers the 44 sounds in English and a simple routine for practicing one syllable words. This is your next step for reading big words.
Q4: My child reads okay, but struggles with spelling. Will this help?
Yes, a lot of children learn to read okay relying on context. But spelling reveals big gaps in their sounds-spelling knowledge. This will help you teach your child how to notice syllables in written words to apply to their spelling.
Q5: How long do I have access?
You will have lifetime access. As long as Printable Parents stays in business, you’ll have the videos and worksheets! You'll also get improvements and updates free.
Q6: When do I get this?
NOTHING SHIPS. This is a digital product. Due to the nature of digital products, there are no refunds.
You must be able to download and up-zip a folder to access the materials.
Q7: What's the refund policy?
Due to the digital nature of Syllable School, we are not able to provide refunds. Please do not sign up if you are not 100% sure you can learn to teach your child to break apart huge words.
